London one of the largest cities in the world, the
official capital of the United Kingdom, located on the Thames River. London is
divided into four parts – the City, Westminster, the West End, the East End.

Every year, more than nine million people come from
countries all over the world to visit London. They go to the theatres and
museums; they look at interesting old buildings, many of them hundreds of years
old; they sit or walk in the beautiful parks, or have a drink in pub.

WESTMINSTER ABBEY Westminster Abbey is the heart of power even in
Britain today. It is more than nine hundred years old. This greatest
architectural memorial built in the 13th century and now it is a
very famous London church. The church is still active as a parish. There are so
many famous figures was crowned, like Queen Elizabeth in 1953. Of course, not
only coronations take place in this church, but also funeral, for example, of
Princess Diana, and weddings, the last one was Kate and William.

Westminster Abbey was included to the World Heritage
in 1987.

BIG BEN

It is hard to write about London and not mention Big
Ben. Undoubtedly the most recognizable place in London. This clock tower rises
above the Houses of Parliament, former site of the Palace of Westminster.  The official name of the tower is Elizabeth
Tower. Actually, “Big Ben” belongs to the tower’s largest bell, which weighs
more than 13 tones.
