Введение:

The process of lexical development is organically linked to the construction of words. The constant changes in public life, the development of technology, art and culture, in social relations are reflected in the vocabulary. Some words left the active vocabulary and were forgotten over time, but at the same time a large number of new words appeared and the vocabulary was enriched. The significant increase in the number of new entries in the English language required the publication of dictionaries and reference books registering new words and phrases in the UK and the US.

The relevance of this topic is determined by the constant changes in the vocabulary, so it is necessary to study it and to consider in detail the way they are generated. This topic will be relevant for as long as the language exists and develops.

The object of the study is the vocabulary of modern English itself, as well as its subject matter that is the means of constructing words in modern English.

The goal of the study was to determine the constructional features of English words. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks were developed:

1. to define the nature of the concept of «native vocabulary».

2. to correctly describe the derivational potential of native English words.

The analysis of the new dictionaries and the data of the English national journals show that the changes in the volume of vocabulary have led to qualitative changes in the way of enrichment, especially in the changes in the vocabulary system, the directions and trends in the development of the semantics of the vocabulary. The development of linguistic and sociolinguistic aspects, the enrichment of vocabulary has been the focus

Despite the ongoing interest of scientists in word formation problems, there are still some unresolved issues. A controversial issue in the structural classification of direct components of complex words is the interpretation of complex words as a complex problem. This problem belongs to some problems that have not been clearly solved in English lexicography.

Given the increasing informatization of the international community in recent years and the unhindered access to the World Wide Web by almost anyone, it should be noted that this «freedom» has led to the influence of Internet users who speak different world languages. These users have undergone some changes in vocabulary filling, adding new elements of vocabulary.

The English language is no exception to this rule, and furthermore, the derivational potential of the English vocabulary suggests that English may be the most dynamic language, with a constantly changing and complementary vocabulary. It is difficult to pinpoint at least an approximate number of English words, as it is replenished with new units almost daily.

Summarizing the data obtained during the study, the key conclusion would be that the most common forms of word formation in modern English in the native language domain is the word affixation.

Paragraph 1. Native English lexemes

A lexicology (from Greek word “lexikos” that means «dictionary») is a vocabulary of words in a language which includes wording. With the help of vocabulary, we divide the world around us and within us into parts and give each of it an alternative name. The comprehensive study of vocabulary is a branch of language science called lexicography. All the words of the language constitute its vocabulary (glossary). Vocabulary is also called a part of the language’s vocabulary: abstract, terminology, native, emotional etc. The greatest wealth of each society is its language, and the wealth of the language is its vocabulary.

One of the urgent tasks of modern linguistics is the comparative analysis of the borrowed and native vocabulary of English words. The study of this issue will provide an overview of the trends in language development and highlight the issue of «language and environment». After all, the development of vocabulary reflects the process by which the language system adapts to the new communicative demands associated with the complexity of the environment.

The richness of a language’s vocabulary indicates the level of social development. As knowledge about the world develops, language grows. By the way, most of the words in the language are special words related to various spheres of knowledge, culture, production, etc. Only about one tenth of them are common words. The vocabulary of a language is more than just a set of words. Words in a language exist in certain systems and relationships. They are used in different ways and with different frequency. Words are most closely
