Глава 2. Анализ
структурно-семантических особенностей англоязычных фразеологизмов, выражающих
эмоции 2.1 Структурные
особенности англоязычных фразеологизмов, выражающих эмоции В рамках практической
части исследования был проанализирован англо-русский фразеологический словарь
под ред. А.В. Кунина.

Методом сплошной выборки
было выявлено 220 англоязычных
фразеологизмов, выражающих эмоции (Приложение).

В соответствии со
структурной классификацией, предложенной А.В. Куниным, были выделены следующие
группы фразеологизмов:

1. Номинативные фразеологизмы, которые, в
свою очередь, подразделяются на:

Субстантивные ФЕ: one’s heart desire, a straight face, a feeling in
the bones, a fire in one’s belly, a fire in the blood, fire and fury, a cold
fish, hammer and tongs, a cool head, a level head, a swelled head, a hot head,
a broken heart, a hard heart, heart and soul, a heavy heart, an open heart,
Homeric laughter, likes and dislikes, a black look, a dirty look, calf love,
love at first sight, platonic love, hopping mad, lip service, burning shame,
the cold shoulder, high spirits, low spirits, strains and stresses, crocodile
tears, quick temper, deep waters.

Глагольные ФЕ: to fix one’s affection, to be in agony of
despair, to keep on alert, to be in the blues, to give smb the blues, to sing
the blues, to care a bean, to put the chill on smb., to take compassion on
smb., to throw into confusion, to cry content with, to give smb. the creeps, to
call down curses, to bash smb’s ears, to be on one’s ear, to grin from ear to
ear, to laugh in smb’s face, to make a face, to put a good face on smth, to set
one’s face like a flint, to set one’s face against smth, to catch smb’s fancy, to
take  a fancy to smb, to carry favour
with smb, to make the feathers fly, to smooth smb’s ruffled feathers, to ruffle
smb’s feathers, to feel flat, to feel funny, to feel one’s feet, to feel
strongly about smth, to have mixed feelings, to have strong feelings on smth,
to relieve one’s feelings, to fight like a lion, to burn like fire, to catch
fire, to strike fire, to fret and fume, to get gray, to get smb’s goat, to look
as if one had seen a ghost, to cast a gloom on smb, to curl smb’s hair, to get
one’s hair off, to tear one’s hair out, to be not right in the head, to bother
one’s head about smb, to be sick at heart, to break one’s heart, to have one’s
heart in smth, to lose heart, to lose one’s heart, to sob one’s heart out, to
be neither hold nor bind, to be at home, to have kittens, to get the laugh of
smb, to burst into laughter, to die with laughter, to roar with laughter, to
quake like a leaf, to be the limit, to go to the limit, to bite one’s lip, to
make a lip, to cast a look at smb, to wither smb with a look, to fall in love,
to fall out of love, to bring back to memory, to treasure in memory, to keep
memory green, to cry over split milk, the milk of human kindness, to be over
the moon, to bow to necessity, to get on smb nerves, to hit a nerve, to lose
one’s nerves, to be on nettles, to give smb a pain in the neck, to take smth in
bad part, to take smth in good part, to give smb pause, to be on pins and
needles, to play fast and loose, to hate smb like poison, to be lavish in one’s
praises, to damn with faint praise, to sing one’s own praises, to kick up a
racket, to hold smb in respect, to pay one’s respects to smb, to set in a roar,
to be on high ropes, to blush like a rose, to throw a scare on smb, to be
afraid of one’s shadow, to quarrel with one’s own shadow, to be dead to shame,
to shake in one’s shoes, to cry on smb’s shoulder, to give smb a cold shoulder,
to look over one’s shoulder, to burst one’s sides laughing, to laugh on the
other side of one’s face, to sing low, to get under smb’s skin, to have  a thick skin, to have a thin skin, to jump
out of one’s skin, to give a start of smth, to be in a stew, to stand as if
turned to stone, to be in cold sweat, to burst into tears, to mingle tears, to
control one’s temper, to fly into a temper, to recover one’s temper, to be on
thorns, to go to town, to go up the wall, to be in deep water, to pour cold
water over smth, to turn on the waterworks.
